35 of NYPA’s outstanding students will present this season’s first collective recital - yet again featuring a vast repertory of solo and concerto masterworks. The students - ages 5-62 - will triumph music by Bach, Scarlatti, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, Franck, Ravel, Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Gershwin, and many others including an original solo work by NYPA’s own student George Socolow.

12 year old child prodigy composer-pianist George Socolow will perform a lavish program of grand piano repertoire spanning four centuries - from Bach till Socolow via Mendelssohn, Chopin, Franck, Debussy and Yedidia.
Geogre has been Ronn Yedidia’s composition & piano student for the past six years. His exceptional talent was recently recognized by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra which gave the world premiere of his work, Rush Hour, last May 4, 2024 at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall. Other compositions of his have been performed by renowned ensembles and orchestras across the US and Europe.

12 year old Alex Sino Xu will perform his debut solo recital at the New York Piano Academy featuring a massive 80-minute program. Alex has been a student of Dr. Ronn Yedidia for the past 5 years and has won numerous awards at piano competitions in the U.S. and abroad.

the beginners & intermediate students at 4:00 pm, and the advanced & adult students at 8:00 pm.
35 students of all ages and levels will perform a widely diversified program of classical gems and masterworks in conclusion to an eventful year - full of musical activity and individual achievements.

Gila Goldstein - a world renowned “Poet of the Piano” - will give her second ever recital at NYPA.

Her program will include Harold Bauer’s transcription of Cesar Franck’s Prelude, Fugue et Variation Op. 18; J.S. Bach’s Prelude & Fugue in E Major from WTC’s Book I; Alma Brasileira (Choros No. 5) by Heitor Villa-Lobos; Franz Schubert’s Sonata in A minor, D. 784; Five Preludes from “24 Preludes of Dusk and Dawn” by Ronn Yedidia; Wohin & Standchen by Schubert/Liszt; and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 13.

The New York Piano Academy proudly presents a special event commemorating the life & legacy of the legendary recording producer Joe Patrych (1955-2023).

45 renowned musicians will pay tribute to one of music’s most revered & loved documenters in the past four decades - who passed away on December 18, 2023 in New York City. Spoken tributes and special messages will be delivered by eminent pianists - including Jerome Lowenthal, Emanuel Ax, Ursula Oppens, Evgeny Kissin, Yuja Wang and Marc-Andre Hamelin.

Prodigious Bulgarian/American pianist Emma Tahmizian will return for her second solo recital at NYPA (the first one took place on May 1, 2022). Her program will include the following works:

NYPA will hold its Mid-Winter Concert featuring 33 students of all ages and levels.

The program will include masterworks by most of the Classical Greats including Bach, Handel, Scarlatti, Mozart, Clementi, Beethoven, Czerny, Schubert, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, Debussy, Ravel, Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev.

In addition - several of our composer/pianist students will present their own original compositions.

World-renowned virtuoso composer/pianist Tempei Nakamura - formerly a student of Ronn Yedidia and Haim Cotton at the New York Piano Academy - will present 10 of his most recent solo piano works at this special recital.
Tempei’s passion and involvement in the best of several musical worlds - single out his dazzling pianistic style as one of a kind! His music embraces a variety of classical, jazz, world and pop influences, as well as a vast palette of visual imagery, and synthesizes them into his own unmistakable voice.

NYPA’s winter holiday event will feature two back-to-back recitals.

The first recital will present more than 20 of our younger children and teenagers ages 4-14 - in a diversified program ranging from elementary favorites all the way to some of the most mature and virtuosic masterpieces in the repertoire.

The second recital will see a charming bonding of our adult students with our older & advanced teenagers ages 15-74 (!) in a super versatile program suited to each student’s level & ability.

Our first statement for the new academic year at NYPA will feature 28 students of all ages and levels performing a wide variety of music from early elementary to some of the most demanding masterpieces in the repertoire. A marathon to be!

22 year old Alex Yedidia will present an All Chopin solo recital debut at the New York Piano Academy - where he started his musical development at a very young age.
Alex will be a full-tuition scholarship student at Rutgers University starting in the fall of 2023.

His program will include the following Chopin works:

11 years old prodigious piano student Noah Xia will present a debut solo recital at NYPA’s concert Hall. Her program will include a diverse selection of piano masterpieces including J.S.Bach’s English Suite No. 2, Haydn’s D Major Sonata Hob. XVI: 37, Schubert’s Impromptu Op. 90 in Eb Major, 2 of Chopin’s Nocturnes (Eb Major & G minor) as well as his Etude Op. 10 in F Major, and 7 of Moszkowski’s Petit Etudes Op. 91.

About Stephen Beus:

Since graduating from Juilliard, Beus has maintained an active performance and competition schedule. In 2006 he won first prize in the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and Vendome International Piano Competition, as well as the Max I Allen Fellowship from the American Pianists Association. He competed in the XII Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2005, and the Thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009. In 2006 he released his first album, Excursions: Piano Music of Barber and Bauer, on the Endeavor Classics label. His second, Stephen Beus Plays Griffes and Scriabin, was released in 2007 on Harmonia Mundi. Stephen is currently an assistant professor in the Keyboard Division at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

After three years of virtual year-end concerts due to the pandemic - NYPA will resume its traditional live Commencement Concert on Sunday, June 12th, 2022 @ 6:00 & 8:00 pm. 28 incredible students will present two separate programs of classical masterpieces. The first program will feature young students age 12 and under, while the second program will be performed by older students age 13 and up - including several adult students. Receptions will follow each recital.

Legendary Bulgarian pianist Emma Tahmizian is back to live performing after a long hiatus. She will perform works by Brahms, Chopin, Schumann, Yedidia, Debussy and Prokofiev. The recital is live-streamed by Klavierhaus.

For the first time since Covid-19 NYPA’s students are assembled together to perform in person! 23 of the academy’s students - ages 5-60 - will present a diverse musical program ranging from beginners’ delights to all-time virtuoso masterworks. Welcome back, sorely missed live concerts!!!
